Colour Fabric & Style for 2013: Carol Reed

This week in our 4 week guest series Colour Fabric & Style 2013 we welcome Carol Reed of Carol Reed Design. I was introduced to Carol a few years back on Twitter and quickly realized our mutual desire to create the same style of spaces… I do not, by any means, compare myself to this incredible designer but only that we seem to lean towards ideas on what makes a room fabulous. I truly believe there is not one space she has done that I ever question her designs, they are perfection.

This year while at the Interior Design show in Toronto Carol & I finally met in person, my first impression? She is beautiful, very classy…..and very TINY!!

Welcome Carol Reed to the TBB Blog!

Thanks Carol for spending the time with us here, as usual you are an inspiration.

CREED (Blog) :

“I love this colour scheme for a cottage. I mentioned to Carol when she sent me the information that I was working on a cottage now to with very similar scheme and style…..what did I tell ya we love the same things! I love that the colours are soft and subdued to relax you and keep the space fresh, but the vibrant blue and punch of green give it life. The added textures and pattern in the fabrics keep it interesting and lively.”

Donna says: “I’m a huge fan of painted cabinetry and furniture and the navy white combination is so classic!  I don’t mind saying I’d love to spend some time in this cottage!”

Maureen says: “ouuu, that pop of green is great…right up my alley. LOVE the entire scheme.”

Lisa says: “So beautiful, in fact it is almost exactly the colour scheme I have chosen for my pine log cottage as well.  So of course I love it.”

Nicole says:  “Thank you, Carol, for saying it’s ok to paint some of the wood.  Most cottages are surrounded by woods, so it’s great to have the interior broken up a bit.  It makes you appreciate all the rest of the wood, so much more.  Love the punch of green too.”

Thanks so much Sonya (your too funny – tiny!?) and all the TBBs who I hope to share a glass of wine with one of these days. I truly enjoyed sharing a glimpse into this project on your blog and was thrilled to be included with such talented company! This cottage project is one with real life budgets and timeline objectives and clients who have their own unique style and special requests – all the challenges I enjoy so much in working with homeowners. I envision this relaxed scheme as a compliment to all the beautiful experiences they’ll enjoy there with family and friends.

My favorite color scheme for a cottage. Always seems to look fresh!

I love this colour scheme! Especially the green. As for painting wood, I’m all over that idea but the REAL question is how to convince a man to paint on wood? (They all seem so against it!)

Great colour scheme! I love the idea of painting the interior of a wood cottage white – I think it would look amazing!
